Electromyography (EMG)

As a recognized expert in orthopedic care, the Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center is committed to providing patients with access to the latest treatments and advanced techniques, such as electrodiagnostic testing. The knowledgeable physiatrist of the Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center is trained and experienced in diagnosing, evaluating, and treating physical discomforts due to the musculoskeletal and nervous systems.

Whether you have physical numbness and weakness, muscle fatigue, or muscle pain or cramping, our expert provides conservative methods and techniques for restoring your health and function.

In order to discover the source of your nerve and muscle pain, our doctor will perform an electromyography (EMG), which is a diagnostic procedure to assess the health of muscles and the nerve cells that control them, motor neurons. Motor neurons transmit electrical signals that cause muscles to contract. An EMG translates these signals into graphs, sounds, or numerical values that a specialist interprets. EMG results can reveal nerve dysfunction, muscle dysfunction, or problems with nerve-to-muscle signal transmission.

At the Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center, our goal is to effectively treat your bodily aches and pains and return you to enjoying your favorite activities. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, our dedicated physiatrist will help find a solution to your ailments and help you get back to enjoying activity again.
