Frequently Asked Questions
What does “open MRI” mean?
Most MRI machines are closed and require the patient to be inserted in a cylinder opening. These tight conditions may cause patients to feel claustrophobic. At Open MRI of St Joseph, we have the area’s only high-field open MRI system. This means high-resolution images with the widest patient opening in the industry. This means less anxiety and no claustrophobia.
How long will a scan take?
The average time for an MRI procedure is 30-45 minutes, so please plan accordingly. Open MRI of St Joseph strives to be on time with all appointments, however occasionally patients may need additional time which may cause delays. Be assured that the same attention will be given to you.
Are you ACR accredited?
Yes, we are ACR accredited. The American College of Radiology awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer review evaluation of its practice. Image quality and procedure evaluations are conducted by board certified radiologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field.
Are you locally owned?
We are the only locally owned independent MRI center in the area. This means supporting a local business, passing on savings to you the customer, being the most cost effective center in town. We are also the only locally owned independent MRI center with 10 board certified radiologists who specialize in musculoskeletal and neuroradiology. When quality and trust are a must, you can count on having a specialized radiologist to read your exam.
When will my referring physician receive my MRI report?
Reports are faxed to your referring physician the same day your exam is completed. To help expedite the process, bring your MRI order with you to your appointment. This will help us with getting your results to the correct physician.
