John Weitlich, MD, is a Board-Certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in general orthopedics and orthopedic trauma and management of fractures. He also provides operative and non-operative care for common conditions including thumb arthritis, wrist arthritis, knee arthritis, and pediatric fractures. At Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center in St. Joseph, Missouri, Dr. Weitlich is passionate about helping each of his patients recover from injuries or chronic conditions and get back to the activities they love and enjoy.

After finishing an undergraduate degree at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, where he majored in biology while playing football and running track, Dr. Weitlich went on to the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He then completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Missouri.

Dr. Weitlich’s dedication to orthopedic surgery began when he was working as a certified nursing assistant while completing college. While shadowing Dr. Brett Miller, he quickly realized his college career would be followed by medical school to pursue becoming an orthopedic surgeon.

When Dr. Weitlich isn’t helping patients at Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center, you’re likely to find him spending time outdoors or playing golf. He also enjoys playing the guitar and spending time with family. He particularly looks forward to any opportunity to spend time with his wife and two daughters.
